Event Info

The Festival of Floralia is upon us! The Knowne World Courtesans call you to a celebration of all things Roman in the Known World! To gain entry, dress to impress in your finest 1st c. Roman garb. We will delight your senses with amphorae of wine, delicacies fit for the Emperor, contests of strength, beauties abundant, and bounteous sensory delights. All in celebration of Summer!

Where: Courtesan Camp and Strawberry Fields (block B06 off eLeri Lane between Ankara and Visby Vale – across the battlefield and above handicapped parking)
When: Monday, August 8th at 8pm

Requirements:
*18+ (no entry without ID!)
*Early Imperial Roman dress (no pants, no Celtic garb, no plaid)
*a coin (Free!) – there are only 300 available so get them while they last!
*no photos or video permitted inside the camp (we will have a designated photo area outside)

Description: Upon the discovery of Pompeii, and its neighbor Herculaneum, Victorian explorers were both surprised and horrified by what they found. The sexually explicit artwork they uncovered would forever change their view of Ancient Rome and eventually lead to our modern concept of pornography. Come have a look at the artwork that caused such an uproar that it was hidden away for nearly two centuries. **Age 18+.**

Description: Craft like it’s 79 CE before partying like it’s 79 CE. For the first hour, we will be making beaded chain necklaces. For the second, an assortment of earrings, rings, and bangle bracelets. Feel free to come for all or part of the class. Full project kits will be available at a $5-10 materials fee, depending on the materials. I have tools for about 12 people- bringing your own pliers or beads is welcome (just please keep track of them)! Details: The basic “learn the techniques” kit of some bits of copper wire and glass beads is free. Optional project kits (bags of beads and wire) will be available for $5-10, depending on the cost of materials involved. Materials: copper wire, red brass wire, bronze wire, glass beads, freshwater pearl beads, semi-precious stone beads.
