To all our dear friends and patrons…
…who joined us for the Bacchanal this year,
First, we wish to offer sincere apologies to anyone who attempted to attend, waited in line forever, gave up, or hung in there only to find the party over by the time they got in. We are working very hard to make sure that our guests do not experience that ever again. Waiting a bit is reasonable, and necessary, but 2 hours is untenable and we are genuinely heartbroken that we disappointed so many people who wanted to participate in the magic of the evening.
Years ago we began this party as a gift to the people of Pennsic. We wanted to create a moment of beauty, a window to The Dream that brought us all to the SCA together. We also wanted to demonstrate the spirit and ideals of The Knowne World Courtesans – opulence, hospitality, sensuality, education, and to remind us all that the SCA is supposed to be FUN.
We believe that in these endeavors we have been triumphant- mostly.
The Bacchanal grew quickly in popularity, and that growth has created the most consistent and difficult problems we have every year.
This year we really got it wrong. For that we are deeply sorry.
It’s tempting to go into a play-by-play of all the things we should have done and the ways we failed. We won’t drag that all out today. We will likely go over some of that and our solutions on all our platforms in the coming weeks. We suggest joining the Patreon as a free member to be notified of updates. We welcome your constructive feedback. You can reach us on Patreon, FB, and Discord.
In the meantime let us leave you with this:
We love hosting the Bacchanal. We are extremely proud of what we have built. When people tell us they were transported, it was their “Pennsic Magic”, or that for a moment they were immersed in another world, we feel tremendous joy. That’s why we do it. And we want to keep doing it for as long as you keep showing up.
Love,
Your Hosts of The Knowne World Courtesans Bacchannal at Pennsic ![]()
